Samsung’s latest version of the Galaxy Z flip phone is now available for purchase following its July 26 launch. The new Galaxy Z Flip 5 boasts a slew of improvements over the previous model. If you own a Galaxy Z Flip5 and want to hard reset it, we can walk you through the process.
In this guide, we’ll show you how to reset the Galaxy Z Flip 5 by using hardware buttons or using Recovery mode.
There can be many reasons why you’d want to reset your Galaxy Flip 5. Some common ones are either because the phone isn’t working as expected or you’re giving it away, selling it, etc.–or if there is any software issue that won’t go away no matter what troubleshooting steps you take.
If you are sending your phone to the manufacturer for maintenance, it’s best not to reset it before shipping. Samsung has a feature called Maintenance Mode that disables all applications so they aren’t deleted or damaged by accident during repair work.

Prepare for Hard Reset

Hard Reset Galaxy Z Flip 5 from Settings
Every OEM provides a direct option to reset phones. It is the easiest method for resetting any phone and from Settings, you can also do that on Galaxy Z Flip 5
- Before you proceed, make sure that you have backed up your data. Open Settings on your phone.
- To open General Management, first find the option in your computer’s main menu.
- In this step, you will find Reset among other options. Tap the Reset option to complete it.
- Once you’ve backed up all of your information, choose Reset option (under Backup and reset).
- you will see what a factory reset entails. If that seems agreeable to you, tap Reset > Delete All.
- When you reboot your phone, it will do so multiple times during the installation process.
- Once your device opens in the Setup process, you have completed the Reset.
- Now you can configure your phone to work the way you want it to.
Hard Reset Galaxy Z Flip 5 from Stock Recovery
This is a more complicated process than the method mentioned above. But if you do not have access to Settings or the touch display isn’t working, this will be your best bet.
For this method, you don’t need to boot your device into the operating system but can access Recovery Mode. Every phone comes with a default recovery which includes a set of operations used for service purpose—here’s how it works:
- To turn off your Galaxy Z Flip 5, press and hold the Power button until the device powers down completely.
- Press and hold the Power button, then press and release Volume Up until you see the Recovery screen.
- In the “Wipe data/factory reset” section of your phone’s recovery mode, use volume buttons to navigate between options.
- To make this selection, press the Power button.
- In the next page, press Power button to choose Factory Reset option and then wait for few seconds until your phone completed all process.
- Now all of the content on your phone will be erased. The process might take several minutes.
- Once you’ve completed the reset process, your phone will begin to boot up.
