Google Magic Compose for Messages Beta Program: How to Get Access

Currently, Magic Compass is in beta and available to a limited number of users. Magic Compose can be used via Messages if you meet the following criteria.

  • Google One Premium membership is required

  • You should have installed the beta version of Messages

  • Android devices with US English as the device language are supported

  • This service is only available to US SIM card holders

  • Users who have Android Go devices should not use this app

  • The Messages app is configured to support RCS

Join Messages Beta Testing

  1. Your Android device should launch the Messages app.

  2. You can access your profile picture by tapping the icon at the top right corner of the screen.

  3. Go to the Message Settings page.

  4. Once you have tapped on RCS Chats, make sure it is set to On.

  • To start a conversation with RCS, open the chat screen.

  • Easily identify RCS conversations since the compose row displays RCS Messages.

  • You can then use Magic Compose by tapping on Try It.

  • The No Thanks button will let you turn it off if you’re not interested.

Get Message Suggestions From Magic Compose

With Magic Compose enabled you can easily make use of Google’s Bard AI’s message suggestions.

  1. Your Android device should launch the Messages app.

  2. Get started with RCS by opening a conversation.

  3. Select Message Suggestions from the menu.

  4. Here are some suggestions you can choose from.

  5. Select the suggestion you would like to select.

  6. Tap on the send button to send the text via RCS Chat to the recipient.

  7. You can rewrite a suggestion by tapping on Rewrite Suggestions and choosing the new suggestion.

  • Messages from the past 20

  • Use of emojis

  • Captions for images

  • Reactions to messages

  • Transcription of voice

  • Addresses of websites

In addition to what will be sent, these items will not be transmitted to Google.

  • Images

  • Messages with attachments

  • Voice messages
