How To

Guide: Samsung Galaxy Devices: Uninstalling Temu

The purpose of this guide is to assist you in uninstalling the Temu application from your Samsung Galaxy device. While the devices produced by the South Korean conglomerate have been notoriously infamous for bloating their OS skins with a large number of preinstalled apps, the company consistently manages to escape criticism [when compared with other Chinese OEMs such as MIUI] in part because it still offers an efficient and performance enhanced operating system.

Although a thin line still needs to be drawn concerning what amount of preinstalled apps is justifiable, Samsung does not seem to care about this issue at all. Once again, it has crossed the line and caused quite an uproar among its users. This time around, it is requiring users to install the Temu application, and even more surprisingly, it has categorized the application as an “Essential” application.

The system app is also treated in the same manner as bloatware, which prevents you from uninstalling it using the traditional method. Therefore, why did the OEM take such an unusual approach? It is primarily motivated by profit and nothing else, there is nothing beneficial to the users.

As far as I am concerned, it is not an app that is particularly popular or useful, and even if it were, one could easily install it from the Play Store within minutes. Shoving this app forcefully into the hands of users is not justified.

To bid adieu to this app, what can you do as a user? Well, there is a nifty method that will help you remove it from your Samsung Galaxy device. Let’s take a look at it now.

  • In this case, you have successfully established a connection. Type the following command to open the Shell environment:
adb shell
  • In this case, the shell connection has also been established successfully, which means that you are ready to proceed with the debloating or removal of Temu.

4: ADB Commands to Debloat/Remove Temu

  1. The Temu app package name is:
    com.einnovation.temu
  2. Now, the generic command to uninstall any bloatware from a device is:
pm uninstall -k --user 0 PackageName
  3. So using Temu’s package name in the above syntax, the command transforms to:
    pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.einnovation.temu

It is that simple. These were the steps to uninstall the Temu app from your Samsung Galaxy device. Should you have any questions, please let us know in the comments. We will get back to you with a solution as soon as possible.

We are really sorry to see that a user has to go through all this to rectify the wrongdoings of an OEM, who carried out this task simply to line their pockets. Anyhow, this is how things stand at this time, and this is the best we can do from our end.

Having said that, even Samsung knows that users are not going to abandon its offerings, such as the powerful S24 Ultra or the budget-friendly A54 for the sake of a preinstalled app, so it is exploiting its monopolistic power to the fullest extent possible.
