Finally, the wait is over! Samsung has begun the public beta program for the Galaxy S22 series’ One UI 5.0 based on Android 13. It was supposed to be released last month, but there was a minor setback. Anyway, the One UI 5 beta is now available for all three Galaxy S22 models. Samsung puts out new software for the Galaxy S22 line that has a lot of new features. The official changelog that comes with the first One UI 5.0 public beta confirms these features: more dynamic color palette options in themes, the ability to stack widgets on the home screen, notification permissions for apps, the ability to set language per app, the option to edit the lock screen wallpaper gallery, Optical Character Recognition for the gallery app, the ability to copy text from screenshots, and so on.

One UI 5.0 comes with Android 13 and has better sound and vibration settings, support for multiple timers in the clock app, an improved taskbar for Samsung DeX with a new search button and notification indicator, better support for physical keyboards, a lot of new features for the Bixby assistant, new AR emoji stickers with the ability to make a sticker from an image, and more.

Aside from that, the update adds some useful features for photos and videos, such as the Histogram in Pro mode, the ability to zoom with one hand, the ability to add a watermark to an image, Telephoto lens support for food mode, and an easier way to choose filters in the camera app. Along with a bunch of privacy and security updates, Samsung also has a new update that adds more accessibility options to the Quick Panel, lets you change the accessibility button, and lets you drag and drop bookmarks.

The update also brings updated versions of Samsung’s built-in apps, such as Samsung Internet, Health, Pay, Members, the Galaxy Store, SmartThings, and others.

The One UI 5 beta has the build numbers S90xBXXU2ZHV4 (Germany) and S90xNKSU2ZVH4 (South Korea), according to users of the Galaxy S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra on the Samsung Community forum. If you live in Germany or South Korea, you can use the Samsung Members app to sign up for the beta program and get the Android 13 beta. The latest over-the-air update is about 2.5GB in size. The first public beta is for the Exynos version, but any European model can sideload it.
