How to Install Pixel Experience [GSI] on Galaxy Tab A8
The following instructions are separated into distinct sections for clarity. Ensure that the specified order is followed. Prerequisite:
- 1: Install Android SDK
You must initially install the Android SDK Platform Tools on your computer. This is Google’s official ADB and Fastboot binary, and it is the only one recommended. Therefore, download the file and extract it to any convenient location on your computer. This will yield the platform tools folder, which will be referenced throughout the remainder of this guide.
- 2: Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking
Additionally, you must enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking on the device. The former will allow the PC to recognize your device in ADB mode. This will then allow you to enter Fastboot Mode on your device. Conversely, OEM Unlocking is required in order to activate the bootloader.
So go to Settings > About Phone > Tap on Build Number 7 times > Return to Settings > System > Advanced > Developer Options > Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking.
- 3: Unlock Bootloader

- 4: Install TWRP Recovery
Additionally, you must have installed TWRP Recovery on your device using the Odin Tool. Refer to our guide on How to Install TWRP Recovery on Galaxy Tab A8 if you haven’t already.
- 5: Download Pixel Experience ROM

NOTE: It is also recommended to get hold of the stock AP file which will subsequently be flashed after the GSI ROM. So download the stock firmware [the same version that is currently installed on your tablet] from Frija Tool or Samfw website. Then extract it and keep it handy as it will be used later on.
Step To Install Pixel Experience [GSI] on Galaxy Tab A8
Step 1: Boot Galaxy Tab A8 to TWRP
USB-connect your device to the computer. Ensure that USB Debugging is activated.
Then navigate to the platform-tools folder, enter CMD in the address bar, and press the Enter key. This will open the Command Prompt window.
To boot your device to TWRP, enter the command below in the CMD window.
adb reboot recovery
Step 2: Format Data and Wipe Partitions
In TWRP, navigate to Wipe > Format Data and enter YES in the designated field. Then, click the checkbox located in the bottom right corner and wait for the erase to finish.
Once complete, navigate to Advanced Wipe and choose “all” partitions. To wipe these partitions, swipe right from the screen.
Step 3: Flash Pixel Experience on Galaxy Tab A8
Go to Reboot in TWRP and select Fastboot. Your device will launch to the FastbootD bootloader. Then, launch the Command Prompt from within the platform-tools subdirectory.
Now enter the command below to flash the GSI ROM:
fastboot flash system system.img
Then do a factory reset via the below command:
fastboot -w
Sep 4: Flash Stock AP [Recommended]
Begin by booting your tablet into Download Mode. Launch Odin and import the AP.tar file [from Step 4] into its AP slot.
Now, press the Start button and wait for the flashing to conclude. You can now launch your device to the newly flashed operating system.
