How to restore deleted Instagram posts – Guide

restore deleted Instagram posts

Did you accidentally delete (or not) something on Instagram that you now want to recover? Did someone break into your Instagram account and delete valuable content that you need back? Do not worry. Instagram already has an option that allows you to very easily restore photos, videos, reels, IGTV videos, or deleted stories. It is a folder called “Recently Deleted” found in the Instagram settings and that can get you out of trouble.

Any post that you delete from your Instagram account will remain in that folder for a period of 30 days. Then it will be automatically deleted forever. The only exception to this rule are Stories that are not in your story archive, which will only stay in “Recently Deleted” for 24 hours and then will be permanently deleted.

Join us to see how to restore deleted Instagram posts thanks to this new folder that is basically a recycle bin.

Restoring deleted Instagram posts is that simple

To recover an Instagram post that was deleted no more than 30 days ago (or a story deleted no more than 24 hours ago), do the following:

  • Open the Instagram app.
  • Tap on your profile icon in the lower right corner.
  • Press the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner.
  • Click on Settings.
  • Go to Recently Deleted.
  • Choose the publication you want to recover and then click Restore.

Ready! That’s all you have to do to bring back anything you deleted on Instagram. Note that Instagram will ask you to verify that you are the account owner every time you try to restore or permanently delete something from “Recently Deleted”. This is a security measure so that intruders don’t delete your Instagram posts forever.

In case you don’t see the “Recently Deleted” option, update the app to show it or just try again later. Remember that this folder was recently added to Instagram and is slowly reaching all phones.

In addition to the “Recently deleted” folder, Instagram has other options that can be very useful and improve the experience of using the app
