Google has been rolling out public beta builds of its upcoming Android version over the past few weeks. Now, it’s time for the fourth public beta, which might be the last major Android 14 update and is quite stable. If you own a Pixel phone, you can find Android 14 beta factory images and OTA images here.

On August 25, Google released Android Beta 5.2. The download links have been updated.

This year, Google is following the same release pattern for its developer builds and beta builds. The roadmap starts with the first developer preview in February, leading to the stable public build release in August. Currently, it’s May, and the timeline for a stable build may change depending on the situation.

There will be two developer previews and a total of four public beta releases for Android 14. This means there will be an update every month before the stable release, primarily for Pixel phone users. If you have a Pixel phone, you can start testing Android 14 today.

Google has updated the list of eligible devices for Android 14. Here are the Google Pixel phones eligible for the update:

  • Pixel 4a (5G)
  • Pixel 5 and 5a
  • Pixel 6 and 6 Pro
  • Pixel 6a
  • Pixel 7 and 7 Pro
  • Pixel Tablet
  • Pixel Fold

Android 14 is Google’s next major release of the Android operating system. Let’s look at some of the main changes since the first developer preview build. At Google I/O, Google announced many interesting features that will be available later this year. Expect more changes in upcoming Android 14 builds.

The first beta for Android 14 introduces different battery settings. Users can choose between a basic and extreme battery-saving mode. Previously, enabling extreme battery saver required turning on basic battery saver first.

Other changes in Android 14 Beta include a refined Security and Privacy dashboard, the latest Security patch, the return of screen time usage, and the comeback of the Fast Pair option. Check out the new changes and improvements here.

Before you install the Android 14 update, keep these points in mind:

Advertisements
  1. Back up all your data to a cloud storage service or your computer.
  2. Installing the developer preview (rooting required) will erase all your data.
  3. As a first build, the app may contain bugs, from minor annoyances to serious errors.
  4. Always keep a copy of the latest stable version of Android for your device. This makes it easy to roll back if something goes wrong.
  5. The beta is available for Google Pixel devices and other models released in 2019, including the Pixel 4a 5GPixel 7 Pro, and Pixel Tablet.
  6. If using OTA images, it’s advisable to unlock your device’s bootloader first.
