How To Install TWRP Recovery On Poco F5 / Redmi Note 12 Turbo

Throughout this tutorial, we will walk you through installing the TWRP Recovery onto your Poco F5 or Redmi Note 12 Turbo. It is not a closely guarded secret that the products manufactured by Xiaomi, notably the Poco series, are among the most active participants in the development of custom software.

However, the rapidity with which things are progressing truly astounds us. Even though the device has only been available to the public for a short period, we have already developed an operational custom recovery.

As a consequence of this, you will be able to simply create a backup of all of the partitions on your device, delete the data from specific sections, and flash individualized firmware and modules with just a few clicks of your mouse.

In addition, there are already live versions of two different versions of recovery: boot and recovery build. Therefore, let’s not waste any more time and get started on walking you through installing the TWRP Recovery [for both of these versions] on your Poco F5 or Redmi Note 12 Turbo right away. How to Install TWRP Recovery on Poco F5/Redmi Note 12 Turbo

For convenience of understanding, the instructions below are broken down into several sections. Ensure that you follow in the same order as stated. By following the instructions below, Ams and its members would not be liable in the event of a nuclear war if your alarm doesn’t wake you up, or if anything were to happen to your device or data.

NOTE: There are two methods for flashing the TWRP Recovery on the Poco F5, as described in STEP 6A & B. Steps 1 through 5 are necessary for both of these strategies. While both techniques are equally effective, we prefer going with the boot version because it allows you to test the recovery first, whereas the recovery version requires you to directly flash the recovery, which can be unsafe in some situations.

1: Install Android SDK

The Android Software Development Kit (SDK) Platform Tools must first be installed on your personal computer. This is the only binary for ADB and Fastboot that Google officially supports. Simply download it and unzip it wherever you like on your computer. Following these steps, you’ll have the platform tools folder necessary to install TWRP Recovery on your Poco F5.

2: Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking

Next, you will need to make sure that your device is set to allow USB Debugging and that it is OEM Unlocked. The first option will ensure that your device is recognized by the computer when it is in ADB mode. After you have done this, you will be able to boot your device into the Fastboot Mode. On the other hand, in order to begin the process of bootloader unlocking, you will first need to obtain OEM Unlocking.

So head over to Settings > About Phone > Tap on Build Number 7 times > Go back to Settings > System > Advanced > Developer Options > Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking.

Rename the TWRP Installer ZIP file to twrp.zip and the TWRP IMG file to twrp.img after downloading.
Similarly, copy both of these TWRP files to your PC’s platform-tools folder.

5: Boot to Fastboot Mode

• Now use a USB cable to connect your device to the personal computer. Make sure that the USB Debugging option is selected.
• Next, navigate to the platform-tools folder, type CMD into the address bar, and press the Enter key on your keyboard. This will open the Command Prompt window for you.

• To boot your device into Fastboot Mode, enter the following command into the CMD window.

adb reboot bootloader

• To test the Fastboot connection, use the following command and you should receive the device ID.

fastboot devices

• Please ensure that the Fastboot Drivers are installed on your own computer if you are not receiving any serial ID.

6A: Flash TWRP on Poco F5/Redmi Note 12 Turbo [Boot Version]

Although the techniques in the above video were demonstrated on a Poco F4, they are also applicable to the Poco 5 [provided that you are flashing the boot version]. Having stated that, you should just refer to the video up until the second to last segment [until 07:23], and you should skip the last part altogether.

• Go to the platform-tools folder, put CMD into the address bar, then press the Enter key when you are finished. This will open the Command Prompt window for you.

• Then, under the CMD window, enter the following command to temporarily boot your Poco F5 to TWRP Recovery:

fastboot boot twrp.img

• At this point, your device will boot into TWRP. Therefore, select Advanced and then press the button labeled Flash Current TWRP.

• All done. Your Poco F5 has now been updated with TWRP for good.
• Go to Reboot and choose System when you are done using it.

6B: Install TWRP on Poco F5/Redmi Note 12 Turbo [Recovery Version]

• To flash TWRP, do the following from the Fastboot mode:

fastboot flash recovery_ab twrp.img

• Then, in order to enter TWRP Recovery mode, type the following command:

fastboot reboot recovery

• The desired flashing may now be performed. When you’re finished, select System > Reboot.
