Guide Install official Android 4.1.2 update for Galaxy Nexus manually

Google has just released Android 4.1.2 update for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus via OTA (Over The Air), update brings some minor improvements, such as one number scalable notification bar. You can upgrade your phone via OTA, but for those of you who have not received an update or not to install it trough the OTA, you can install Android 4.1.2 update manually.

The following tutorial will guide you through the process of updating the official Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.1.2 OTA update manually. There are two methods, read the name of the method, and then follow in steps  with the requirements.


Please follow below guide at your own risk, or the author will not be liable if your device is lost data or get damaged after this guide.  you are not forced at gun point to flash this firmware…………………………….

Method 1: Install Android 4.1.2 OTA for Galaxy Nexus with stock recovery, locked bootloader and no Root 

Step 1:  Make sure your Galaxy Nexus and new works JRN84D ONLY, please check your item from the device settings> About phone.

Step2:  Make sure that the Android ADB, installed on your computer .

Step 3:  Download Android 4.1.2 OTA for Galaxy Nexus from  here   [XDA Link] on your computer.

Step 4:  Copy the update to the same folder as the ADB binary.

Step 5:  Turn off the Galaxy Nexus.

Step 6:  Restart in recovery mode

Note:  in recovery mode, use the volume keys to navigate and power button to select).

Step 7:  Select apply update from ABD.

Step 8:  Connect the phone to the PC.

Step 9:  Open a command prompt in the same directory as the ADB binary, if you are using Windows 7 or above to open a command prompt, right-click on the folder, hold down the button on the keyboard, then select Open Command Prompt here.

Step 10:  Enter the following command to make sure that the phone is connected to your computer properly:

adb devices

Step 11:  Enter the following command to install the update, do not forget to mention the name of the archive.:

adb sideload

Step 12:  Reboot your phone.


Method 2: Install Android 4.1.2 on Galaxy Nexus via ClockworkMod Recovery

Step 1:  Download the official Android 4.1.2 OTA update for Galaxy Nexus from  here  [XDA Link] on your PC Note:

The download according to your version of the phone, you can check your device is part of the setting> About phone.)

Step 2:  (Skip this step if you are on any Jelly Bean assembly) Open the archive and then delete the folder recovery.

Step 3:  Copy the ZIP file to the Galaxy Nexus ..

Step 4:  Turn off the device.

Step 5:  Restart  to recovery, hold down the volume up, volume and power button.

Step 6:  In the recovery, create a Nandroid backup of the current ROM, this is important, because if something does not work, what do you expect from this CD, you can easily go back to the current state.  To create a backup, select “Backup and Restore “, then select” Backup “again.

Step 7:  Returns to the main menu by selecting “Go Back”.

Step 8:  Click “Install” and find the zip file that you have had in the previous step and confirm ..  Wait until the installation is complete.

Step 9:  Once the installation is complete, click “Go Back” then select “Reboot System Now” to restart the phone.
