UMIDIGI X came to us in the black box of the company’s corporate design.

Opening the box, you can immediately see a card with gratitude and QR links to the social network of the company.

Under the card – the device itself in a black silicone case under the skin.

Also in the box are:

• Corporate black envelope with manual and clip for SIM card tray
• 2 A charge with a European plug
• Red USB Type-C cable for charging

Ergonomics and appearance

The company is positioning UMIDIGI X as a killer of flagships, so they decided not to save on design. Metal edges reliably protect from damage to the glass of the smartphone. Front Amoled display, and rear glass with a gradient. There are two gradient colors on the back cover:

• A daring deep black color with a blood-red stripe in the path of which there are 3 cameras, a flash, and a company logo
• Delicate blue and white gradient like the UMIDIGI A5 Pro

Narrow frames with a small chin and a drop for a selfie camera on top will help you enjoy the big screen.

On the right side are the controls and the slot for the SIM card tray. On the top face is the headphone jack. On the bottom, there is a charging port, speaker and microphone.

The dimensions of UMIDIGI X are not small: 158.6 x 75.6 x 8.1 mm and 202 g, but personally I keep it quite comfortable.

Display

UMIDIGI X received a 6.35-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of HD + 1548 × 720 with an aspect ratio of 19.35: 9 and a pixel density of 269 PPI.

The screen quality is sufficient, however, I would like more resolution for such a large diagonal of the screen. The colors are bright, very saturated, and, unfortunately, there is no way to adjust them in the settings (you only need to install applications separately).

Sound

An integrated audio chip allows you to enjoy a loudspeaker and at the same time without unnecessary noise and wheezing. At maximum volume next to you, holding a smartphone is even painful for the ears, although the quality does not lose music.

The quality of playback through the headphones still depends more on the headphones themselves. The difference between using a normal budget and high-end headphones is quite serious.

Communication

UMIDIGI X has no communication problems. It supports all types of communication, the interlocutor can be heard clearly, and thanks to noise reduction, the interlocutor will hear you well even in noisy places.

Installed Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi with support for 5 GHz, finally installed NFC.

But with GPS satellites we had a war. They tried to create conditions where the smartphone can not find, connect and not lose satellites. Lost, but it’s for the better, so getting lost with UMIDIGI X will not work.

UMIDIGI X Camera

Now all manufacturers are drawn in the number of cameras and image quality. The smartphone has only 4 cameras – 3 in the back and 1 in front.

Selfie camera 16 MP with artificial intelligence, the quality of the pictures is good, but the colors are oversaturated. Perhaps a third-party application will help align the colors, but unfortunately, Google Camera cannot be installed.

The triple rear module is represented by the main 48MP Samsung GM1 module with an aperture of F / 1.79, a 5MP camera for determining the depth of the scene, and the third sensor is the Samsung S5K4H7 with a wide-angle lens of 120 degrees and a resolution of 8 MP.

What is your impression of the camera? In general, it’s not bad: the colors are juicy, the focus catches quickly when using the 48 MP module, so even the smallest details can be considered. However, cameras with Sony sensors in smartphones of the same price category take better pictures.

Autonomy

UMIDIGI X received a 4150 mAh battery with support for fast charging at 18 watts.

With the active use of the smartphone – you have enough charge for a day. In standby mode, the smartphone can easily withstand 6 days or even a whole week.

For an hour of play, the device loses about 12% of the charge, which is quite acceptable with such a large screen. A charger with a power of 10 W can charge it in about 1-1.5 hours.

UMIDIGI X operating system and filling

Fans of almost naked Android 9.0 can rejoice – they didn’t stuff anything extra into the smartphone, all Google services will not be needed to search in the Play Store. And this means: I turned on the smartphone, went to my Google account and everything was quietly synchronized – use it with pleasure. Unless the icons are a little different.

The interface works very fast, applications load much faster than smartphones, which are slightly cheaper, so here too, a big hello to the developers.

UMIDIGI X has a pretty good eight-core Helio P60 processor and a Mali-G72 MP GPU.

RAM 4 GB type LPDDR4X, internal – 128 GB. Very demanding games are light on high graphics settings. No sharp artifacts were observed.

The most interesting thing is the sub-screen fingerprint scanner. It works fast enough, but not as fast as off-screen scanners, and besides, you constantly need to get into the area, otherwise, you run the risk of poking to victory. It was also surprising that you first need to press the power button to activate the screen, perhaps this is done so that there are no accidental clicks.

You can enable face to unlock, which works clearly and without flaws, and add protection with a graphic key.

findings

As a result, it turned out to be an excellent smartphone with a bunch of gorgeous advantages, using a fingerprint scanner causes some difficulties and the front camera greatly oversaturated the pictures, but the rest of UMIDIGI X was very pleased and it can be safely recommended for purchase.

Now it is already available for sale, so you can safely buy and forget about changing the phone for the next couple of years.
