Setup EDL Drivers on Windows 11 : Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008

Installing the EDL drivers Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 will allow you to make a custom recovery on your Windows 11 PC. This method is not only much safer than the previous one but also faster and easier.

If your Oneplus is bricked and it cannot be accessed via Fastboot Mode, then you can use the Emergency Download Mode and flash through the resultant downloaded firmware. In this case, you will specifically have to download the OFP firmware and use the MSM Download Tool.

Setup EDL Drivers on Windows 11

Before you can do anything with the EDL Drivers, you first have to install them on your Windows 11 PC. If you don’t, the Device Manager will never be able to identify your device as Qualcomm HS-USB 9008. So let’s get started with that driver installation so you can carry out the flashing process later on with ease.

The instructions below are listed under separate sections for ease of understanding. Follow the same sequence as mentioned. Droidwin and its members won’t be held responsible if you don’t wake up for your alarm, if your device breaks, or if anything happens to your data by performing these steps.

1: Disable Driver Signature

First, you will have to disable the Windows Driver Signature Enforcement or else Windows will conflict with the driver installation process. So to do this, proceed with the below steps:

  • Restart your computer by pressing the Shift key before clicking on Restart.
  • Your device will now restart and load the Windows Recovery Environment.
  • Click Start and then click “Advanced Options”. Once you’re there, click “Restart.”

Advanced Options In Windows 11

  • Click the blue Restart button, located at the bottom right corner of your screen.
  • To disable driver signature enforcement, press the 7 or F7 key.

The driver signature enforcement has been disabled on your computer, so when you restart it the next time, Windows will not ask you to verify that drivers are signed.

2: Boot the Device to EDL Mode

Next, you will need to turn off your device, and then restart it while pressing the volume down button. If it boots into EDL mode, then this means that your phone is already in this state [see below]. However, if it is stuck in Fastboot or if you can access its operating system, then check out our guide on how to boot any (bricked/unbricked) Android device into EDL mode. Once you have completed these steps, let’s verify whether your device is in EDL mode or not.

  • Find Device Manager in the Start Menu by clicking on the Windows icon and typing “Device”.
  • Expand the Ports section to see a list of devices currently connected to your computer.
  • The name of the device will be something similar to QHUSB_BULK.

QHUSB_BULK

Do be aware that your device will appear as QHUSB_BULK [with a yellow exclamation point] instead of Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008. It’s just because the EDL drivers are not installed on your Windows 10 PC. But for now, QHUSB_BULK is enough to indicate that your PC at least recognizes your device and you can proceed with installing the drivers.

STEP 3: Install EDL Drivers in Windows 11

  • Click here to download the EDL Mode Drivers.
  • Then click on the QDLoader HS-USB Driver.exe file and follow the directions to install it.
  • You will be prompted with the option of choosing between WWAN-DHCP and ETHERNET DHCP, select WWAN-DHCP then click Next.

  • Once you’ve finished the steps above, restart your computer. You will see a message telling you to do so, so please restart as instructed.

STEP 4: Verify EDL Connection

Now that you’ve installed the driver for your device, let’s test the EDL connection. It is recommended that you unplug and then replug your device to the PC via a USB cable. Likewise, re-verify that the device is still booted to EDL Mode.

  • The Device Manager can be accessed by right-clicking on the Windows icon and selecting “Device Manager.”
  • Once you’ve connected your device, expand the Ports section and you’ll see it listed.
  • This time, simply connect your device to the computer and it will be recognized as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008.

STEP 5: Unbrick your Device!

You can proceed with the unbrick process once you’ve double-checked that your device meets all the prerequisites. If you have a OnePlus device, you can download the MSM Download Tool from here, and refer to the flashing instructions in that guide.

That’s it. These were the steps to install the EDL Drivers Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 on your Windows 11 PC. If you have any questions about how to do this, let us know in the comments and we will get back to you with an answer as soon as possible.
