A couple of weeks ago we met the tentative dates in which several Xiaomi phones would start receiving MIUI 11, the most recent version of the brand customization layer.
These phones included the Pocophone F1, a very promising mobile that, despite having very good acceptance among the public, so far it seems that it will be the only one of its line, having no replacement after more than a year of being presented.
However, for those fortunate to have this mobile, it will be very pleased to know that they have not been forgotten. Effectively, Pocophone F1 is starting to receive MIUI 11, but it may take a little while until it reaches your region. Therefore, if you want to have it before others, here we show you how you can do it.
How to install the new ROM on Pocophone F1 before anyone else
Before starting, you will need a 64-bit Windows PC and the USB cable of your mobile to connect it to the computer. In addition, we must clarify that, although this ROM brings MIUI 11, it is still under Android Pie. But, from Xiaomi, they promise to update the Pocophone and other Xiaomi phones to Android 10 shortly.
You must download the ROM. We warn you that it is a heavy file, 1.8 GB, So we recommend you to be connected to a WiFi network. While the download is in progress, you must also download the “My flash“To flash the ROM, Minimal ADB, and fast boot driver.
With these programs downloaded and installed and with the ROM ready, you are only a few steps away from having MIUI 11 on your Pocophone.
You have two options to install the ROM, the first and recommended is with EDL mode. If your mobile does not accept this mode, then you will have to prepare it manually to flash through fast boot. Remember that this process could erase everything from your mobile, it is important that you make a backup on your PC or in the cloud.
Install the ROM by fastboot with EDL mode
- Go to “Settings” and down to “Additional Settings”, “Developer Settings”.
- There you will find the option to activate the “USB debugging”.
- Then connect the mobile to the PC and install the drivers.
- Once they are ready, open the My Flash program and click on the button “Refresh”. Your mobile should appear. If not, it is likely that the drivers were not installed correctly.
- When you have the mobile on screen, look for the ROM You have already downloaded.
- Choose “Flash all” to erase everything on the mobile.
- Finally, click on “Flash” and wait for the message to appear “Sucess”, in green.
- Now you can disconnect the mobile from the PC and turn it on.
- Ready, You already have your new ROM with MIUI 11 installed.
Prepare the mobile manually to flash with fast boot
In case you can’t use EDL, this is what you should do:
- With the mobile off, press and hold the volume down and power buttons until Xiaomi’s pet appears and puts fast boot.
- Connect the mobile to the PC and open the CMD to type the following commands.
- fastboot devices. A device should appear, if not, the drivers are not properly installed.
- fastboot oem unlock. A notification will appear on your mobile, click yes.
- By completing these steps, you can go to the My Flash program.

What’s new in MIUI 11 on Pocophone F1 and other Xiaomi
When you have installed the ROM, these are the most outstanding news that you can find in MIUI 11:
- My Share. Now it will be easier to share files between mobiles, not only among Xiaomi but also in Oppo, Realme, and VIVO.
- Enhanced UI Design. This new interface has a more classic and orderly design, which comes to fix the feeling of disorder in MIUI 10. In addition, several icons of the native applications have been redesigned.
- Changes in the file manager. Prioritize fast access between files. But, it is best that you can now open files of different formats such as Docx or PDF without an external application.
- More customization on the screen. Now you can activate the “Always on display” mode. It also brings default lock screen backgrounds.
- Women’s Health Mode. Now women can have better control over their menstrual cycle.
- Emojis in camera. Emoji will be included in the camera interface.
- Enhanced Dark Mode. This option allows you to enjoy the dark mode both in the user interface and in most applications you have installed. You just need to have the developer option active and go to the button “Override Dark Mode”.
- Ultra energy saving. This energy-saving mode is more aggressive with background processes than we have already seen in Xiaomi’s typical energy-saving mode.
- Gaming Toolbox 2.0. The in-game toolbox improves to include new options and avoids interfering with game sessions.
- Tasks in notes. Now you will not need to install an application to keep a list of all the tasks you must do on the day.
