Huawei endangered users due to Google services

There are not many ways to install Google services on Android smartphones that do not have an appropriate license. Almost all of them provide for obtaining root rights, which not all users decide on.

Therefore, it was quite logical that Huawei refused to preinstall a special installer that would download the search giant services to non-certified devices.

However, for the happiness of users on the Web, the LZPlay tool appeared, which installed Google services on the flagship Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro, without requiring dangerous or illegal actions. I wonder why?

Huawei has endangered its users. And all because of Google services

How to install Google services

To install Google services through LZPlay, a set of simple manipulations was enough:

  • Open a browser and go to the site lzplay.net (It does not work);
  • Download the package with Google Play services;
  • Install the APK file following the instructions on the screen;
  • Log in with your Google Account.

Yes, that’s so simple. The described method does not require either obtaining root rights or unlocking the bootloader. But the most amazing thing about it is that all the Google services that are installed in this way work perfectly without any glitches.

Even Google Pay, which is usually incompatible with smartphones that are not certified to use Google Mobile Services, allows you to pay by contactless means on any compatible terminals.

What is the danger of installing Google services

Developer John Wu decided to find out how it turned out that the LZPlay tool allowed you to install Google services on incompatible smartphones. In the process of studying the situation, he learned that LZPlay uses a number of specific privileges that give him access to the Mobile Device Management add-on, which is responsible for device management.

But since third-party developers could not access it on their own, because this required a manufacturer’s signature, it turns out that Huawei itself signed LZPlay.

After some time, when it turned out that LZPlay was not as simple as it seems, everyone decided that it was malicious software that could be used by hackers to gain control over vulnerable devices.

It never occurred to anyone that Huawei itself authorized the installation of Google services through LZPlay and, perhaps, independently participated in the creation of this tool. In the end, it would be illogical for her not to even try to take any steps to provide her users with access to the services of the search giant.

Why Huawei has banned the installation of Google services

It would seem that this is so? But, according to Wu, in this way, Huawei put its users in serious danger. After all, if a third-party developer could gain control of the device, there are no guarantees that he would not use these privileges and did not try to steal the confidential data of his victim.

And this, given the unprincipled nature of many developers, is quite standard practice. Fortunately, Huawei changed her mind in time and closed the shop, leaving users without Google services, but in relative safety.
