Usually, when we talk about playing games, we think of smartphones, computers, and consoles. However, did you know you could play games on YouTube? Yes, YouTube has been testing out experiments for a while and recently gave out the option to play games to a select number of Premium subscribers.

I’ll tell you how to play these fun little games on YouTube if the new games section on YouTube sparked your interest.

How to Play Games on YouTube

You can only play these games if you subscribe to YouTube Premium. For now, these games are being tested out as an experiment only. It’s important to have a subscription to YouTube to take advantage of these experiments. However, you first need to enable the Experimental features so you can play games on YouTube.

Enable YouTube Experimental Features via Web Browser

It is possible to use any web browser to take advantage of the experimental Playables feature on YouTube. The following steps can be followed using any web browser. You can use Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or any other web browser. Ensure that the YouTube account you will be using has an active YouTube Premium subscription.

Enable YouTube Experimental Features

  • The first thing you need to do is launch YouTube and click on your profile picture at the top right corner.

  • Then click on the Your Premium Benefits link in the menu that appears

  • You will now be able to access the benefits page.

  • Select “Try Experimental Features” from the drop-down menu.

  • The YouTube section will include a Play Games link.

Try Experimental Features

  • Turn on the button by clicking it.

  • Try reloading the YouTube tab and scrolling down.

  • There is a new shelf called Playables on YouTube’s homepage.

  • You can start playing as soon as you click on the game you like.

Enable YouTube Experimental Features via the YouTube App

It has been discovered that, in addition to the ability to access and play YouTube games on the YouTube website, you will also be able to access and play YouTube games on the YouTube app, which is available for iOS and Android devices, as well as on the YouTube app itself. The YouTube app must be updated as well for the latest YouTube games to be able to work.

  1. Install the YouTube app on the smartphone of your choice.

  2. At the bottom right corner, tap on your profile picture.

  3. Click on the Your Premium benefits tab.

As soon as the feature has been activated, you will be able to choose from a variety of available games. You should note that this experimental feature is only available to YouTube Premium members and will be available until March 28, 2024. And yes, these games can also be played through the YouTube app. No additional application is required to play these games. It is similar to the Instant Games feature available on Android’s Google Play Games app.
