Even though WhatsApp has the ability to send high-quality photos, it did not have the ability to send high-quality photos until Meta added the much-awaited feature to the app.

How to Send High-Quality Photos on WhatsApp

In June, Meta introduced a setting that allowed users to select the desired picture quality. Building on this, the company has introduced a more simplified way to change photo quality after uploading. Here’s how to send high-resolution photos on WhatsApp.

Note: To access this new feature, download the latest WhatsApp version on your Android device (version 2.23.18.9) or iPhone (version 2.23.17.71). If your app is running on an older version, be sure to update to the latest one to access this new feature.

Send High-Quality Photos on WhatsApp

  1. On your smartphone, open the WhatsApp application.
  2. Select a contact and choose the photo you want to send.
  3. Press the Camera icon on your screen and take a photo.
  4. Tap the settings icon, then tap “HD” at the top of your screen.
  5. Tap the HD Quality option in the popup menu, then tap Done.
  6. Tap the send icon.
  7. That’s it.

The person will see a label at the bottom right corner of the photo. If you are on a low-bandwidth internet, you will receive the standard quality photo. Yes, this has been confirmed by Meta. However, you will still have the option to select between the standard version or a high-resolution photo.
