WhatsApp at work on multi-device synchronization

While last month we saw the news regarding the chat migration feature Whatsapp between Android and iOS on which the development team is working, details have now emerged on how this type of implementation is part of a larger function, which will allow synchronizing data between multiple devices.

According to the specialized newspaper WABetaInfo, the details of the new feature are present in the beta version of WhatsApp 2.21.10.6. Once the data is migrated to a second device, it will come linked to the same account and they will remain synchronized. This could mean that chat migration could be a feature to enable multi-device sync on the app, should a user want to use their account on two devices with different operating systems.

Specifically, the function will sync your data and actions performed on WhatsApp by users on the two devices registered with the same account. This will then include all messages sent, deleted, or categorized as favorites in groups, as also specified by the report.

It is not clear if this is due to the fact that the function is still in progress or simply to make it possible to retrieve a message deleted by mistake in the other device. But given that everything is still under development by the company, we will have to wait to get everything clear.

The chat migration feature was first discovered in April, while initial details regarding WhatsApp’s multi-device support surfaced last year. There is still no indication regarding one possible release date of these new features.
