Of the custom operating systems currently available, One UI is the best in many ways. And with One UI 5, Samsung has included lock screen customization. Here you will know how to customize the lock screen on Samsung Galaxy phones.
Last year, Samsung surprised everyone with the lock screen customization feature. Yes, it happened soon after iOS 16 lock screen customization feature which made many users think that Samsung is copying Apple. However, Samsung users who are familiar with Good Lock have been able to customize Samsung lock screens before.
Lock screen customization has always been a problem in Android phones. On Samsung phones, lock screen customization was possible through the Good Lock module, but with One UI 5.0, it is available by default. As you know, there are many options to customize or change the home screen layout, but if the lock screen does not match the home screen, the layout does not look good. But when the lock screen and home screen are personalized, it looks aesthetically pleasing.
List of devices supported by Samsung lock screen customization
Lock screen customization is part of the One UI 5 update. This indicates that all Samsung Galaxy phones that received the One UI 5 update are supported. It includes devices like the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy A53, Galaxy A72, Galaxy A73, and many more. Additionally, some phones are eligible for One UI 5 but have not received the update. In this case, users have to wait for the update.
What can you change in Samsung lock screen customization?
With One UI 5, users can change many things such as wallpaper, clock, text, emoji, notification display, etc. And each item is available with many choices.
It’s like the home screen. Everything available on the lock screen is customizable. Well, for some items the options will be limited.
The items you can change on the lock screen are:
- Wallpapers
- Live Wallpapers
- Clock
- Fonts
- Notification
- Shortcuts
- Additional texts and emojis
Note: Before following the steps, make sure to disable lockstar or other Good Lock modules that control the lock screen. Otherwise, your changes made through the given method will not appear.
How to Change Samsung Lock Screen
Here I will divide the detailed guide into separate sections so that you can easily follow guide. All sections include a customization guide for each item on the lock screen.
How to apply wallpapers on the lock screen
The first and most important part of any customization is the wallpaper. Be it desktop setup, phone home screen, or lock screen setup, Wallpaper makes it all look good. It is important to choose a good wallpaper for a good setup. Every Samsung phone comes with default wallpapers. And with One UI 5, Samsung has added some cool new wallpapers that look pretty good. However, you can always choose to set up a custom wallpaper.
- Touch and hold the lock screen.
- Tap the Wallpapers button in the top left. You can download the wallpaper which is in the displayed image from our YMWC collection.
- It will display all the default wallpapers as well as the images you have uploaded manually.
- Now choose the wallpaper you want to apply and then tap Done.
- If you have applied a Colors wallpaper, you can change its colors as well as its style by tapping on the Colors option which will be available at the bottom.
If you applied a wallpaper that you downloaded manually, you will be able to change its color filter.
Tip 1: You can set the video wallpaper you downloaded from the Samsung Themes app or any video available in your phone memory. A crop option is available for video wallpaper.
Tips 2: You can set the dynamic lock screen which will change the wallpapers of the pack you downloaded. It is a default service available on Samsung phones.
Tip 3: If you don’t like the built-in dynamic lock screen, you can create your own. You can choose multiple wallpapers from Gallery to create a wallpaper pack. And every time the screen wakes up, you will find a different wallpaper from the pack.
Tip 4: Similar to Tip 3, you can choose a video wallpaper pack. And the video wallpaper will change every time the screen wakes up. You can even trim the video.
