Samsung November 2021 security update for Galaxy devices

Samsung November 2021 security update

While Android 12 looks more likely for Samsung devices every week, the Korean firm continues to roll out its consistent monthly security patches. For November 2021, a select few Samsung Galaxy smartphones are already seeing the latest updates. Here is a complete, constantly updated list.

SAMSUNG NOVEMBER 2021 SECURITY UPDATE – WHAT’S NEW

Keeping an excellent track record of early security patch releases, the November 2021 update became the flagship. Galaxy S21 series from October 25th. The update isn’t exactly tiny, at around 225MB in size.

There is no “official” changelog yet, but this patch is likely to include fixes for any data and privacy issues while ensuring that exploits are fixed for added security on the device. Changelogs available to those already downloading OTAs in selected regions note “new and enhanced features,” but it’s unclear if this is an issue when using rudimentary Google Translate features:

Like pretty much all regular security patch lists, Samsung has tons of phones to cover and protect. The list of devices for which updates are possible counts over 100 Galaxy-branded smartphones over 40 can receive monthly patches, 60 can receive quarterly updates, and more than 40 are eligible for updates every two years.

This does not account for unscheduled upgrades to past hardware – something Samsung offers from time to time. Because of this, it is unclear what criteria Samsung is using to ensure coverage across all devices.

GALAXY S SERIES

As you’d expect, the current top-tier flagship Galaxy S Series was the very first to receive the November 2021 update. It started hitting devices in Germany on October 26th, which is very impressive. This update weighs in at around 225MB but is based on Android 11. This means that anyone currently using the latest One UI 4.0 beta will not be able to update their device from the end of October.

Galaxy Set

The Galaxy Series is where shoppers get the most out of Samsung’s entire smartphone lineup, and updates are another area where these devices shine. While the Galaxy A32 is near the end of our recommendations, it is still a great package. On the heels of the November 2021 security patch headlined Galaxy S21 series handsets, the A32 was updated on October 27th. Implementation has started in the Russian and Ukrainian markets, but wider availability is expected in the coming days.
