Xiaomi and Samsung have presented two of the most interesting proposals that we can currently find in the mid-range. We are talking about the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 and the Samsun Galaxy A32, which are available in two variants, one with 4G connectivity and the other with 5G connectivity. Due to the similarity between prices, the 5G model is the one that enters to compete directly with Xiaomi’s proposal for 2021. But, What are the differences between the Samsung Galaxy A32 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 10? And which of the two is worth buying as of publication date? We see it.

A more streamlined and optimized design in the Redmi Note 10

That’s how it is. Starting with the construction materials, which in this case are based on the glass in the back. To this must be added that the phone has an advantage of the front surface concerning the size of the upper screen, not to mention that the notch that houses the camera occupies a smaller surface. Interestingly, even though the Samsung Galaxy A32 is made of plastic, its weight is significantly higher; we are talking about a difference of more than 20 grams.

Where we also find differences is in the general dimensions of the device, where both the screen size (6.5 inches compared to the 6.43 of the Redmi Note 10) and the size of the frames that surround the panel have an impact. The exact difference is 4.2 millimeters high, 1.6 millimeters wide, and almost 1 millimeter thick. There is nothing.

Another difference worth mentioning is that the Redmi Note 10 has protection against dust and splashes thanks to the IP53 certification. Also, the phone has two speakers with stereo sound on the top and bottom of the chassis.

Display: light-years from Samsung model

The integration of a processor compatible with 5G networks in the Samsung Galaxy A32 has played havoc with the quality of the rest of the components, such as the screen. We are talking about a panel with TFT technology and HD + resolution, figures that are quite far from what we find in Xiaomi. In this case, the device uses an AMOLED panel with Full HD + resolution and a maximum brightness level of 700 nits, and a peak brightness of 1,100.

In addition to having higher resolution, the screen of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 has more vivid colors and a much more marked contrast, not to mention that AMOLED displays are capable of reproducing black color completely realistically, by turning off the pixels individually. To all this, we must add that the panel has the DCI-P3 certification, in such a way that the colors that are represented are more faithful to those of reality.

The Samsung Galaxy A32 takes the cake in power and connectivity

At least on paper. According to tests carried out in Antutu, the Mediatek Dimensity 720 is up to 22% more powerful than the Snapdragon 678 of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10. This also translates into improved performance in games, as well as in floating-point operations. Of course, the phone only has 4 GB of RAM compared to the two versions with 4 and 6 GB of the Xiaomi model. This can limit, in one way or another, the running of applications in the background.

When it comes to available storage, the two phones are marketed in two variants with 64 and 128GB. In the case of Xiaomi, the phone mounts UFS 2.2 type memories, while in the case of Samsung, the company has not specified the standard with which they are manufactured. When it comes to connectivity, the Samsung model once again shows its superiority, being compatible with 5G SA and NSA networks and Bluetooth 5.1 connections compared to version 5.0 that mounts the Qualcomm processor. The rest of the connections are practically identical: dual-band WiFi, NFC for mobile payments …

An identical photographic section in the configuration

In configuration and figures. And is that if we take a look at the specification sheet, the two phones use practically the same characteristics: four 48, 8, 2, and 2-megapixel cameras in the case of Xiaomi and four 48, 8, 5, and 2-megapixel cameras in the case of Samsung. In both cases, we find wide-angle and macro lenses and a last sensor aimed at improving the Portrait mode. Of course, the Redmi Note 10 uses the Sony IMX 582 as the main sensor, while Samsung has not revealed the model of its sensor.

It should be noted that this model is one of the most solvent sensors in the mid-range. To this, we must add that the phone is compatible with the Google camera, also known as GCam. It is an application modified from the original Google app for the Pixels that moves the company’s photography algorithm to all phones with Qualcomm processors and Sony sensors. In the case of Samsung, it is most likely that the device is not compatible with this application, both by processor model and by type of cameras.

And what about the front camera? In this case, both have 13-megapixel sensors with a somewhat wider opening on the Samsung model. We can therefore deduce that the photos will have a little more brightness in environments with complex lighting conditions.

Battery and charging: similar numbers and a potentially similar experience

In the battery and charging section, again we find ourselves with very similar specifications since both have a 5,000 mAh battery that promises to bring the autonomy closer to a day and a half of use. It should be noted that the Samsung A32 has a more efficient processor, although the Xiaomi Remi Note 10 enjoys a screen that obtains better consumption, at least theoretically. In any case, autonomy should be similar in both cases.

Where we do find appreciable differences is in the charging systems, 15 W in Samsung and 33 in Xiaomi. Loading times therefore could be halved on the Redmi Note 10 (about an hour), not to mention that the charger that Samsung includes in the box is not capable of reaching the maximum allowed figure.

Price, conclusion, and opinions, Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 or Galaxy A32 5G?

After analyzing all the differences between the Samsung Galaxy A32 5G vs Redmi Note 10, it is time to conclude. Although both terminals were initially presented for 280 and 200 euros respectively, currently they can be found for 200 and 180 euros on Amazon. Is it worth spending 20 euros of difference for the Galaxy A32? The truth is that no.

Broadly speaking, Xiaomi’s proposal is much more complete: better screen, more compact size and design, more solvent photographic section, more powerful charging system … On Samsung’s side, the only argument in favor of the terminal comes from the hand connectivity, although the situation of the 5G network in our country is somewhat discouraging. If we do not prioritize compatibility with 5G networks, the Xiaomi model is the most recommended within this comparison and in the price range in which we find ourselves.
