If we have just bought a new smartphone, perhaps a top of the Android range that we have been waiting for a long time, we certainly can’t wait to turn it on and try all the functions. Understandable, but there are some basic steps to follow before you can use the device with confidence.
How to prepare your new smartphone for use
Right out of the box, the smartphone must be checked, prepared, and configured for use. Here’s what to do immediately after the so-called “unboxing”.
Check the smartphone
First of all, it is necessary to make sure the device is not damaged. Smartphones usually arrive in perfect condition, but manufacturing defects may occur or shocks during transportation. It is also possible that some accessories are missing in the box, such as the charger or an accessory cover. To avoid unpleasant surprises later on, it’s best to check right away that everything is as it should be. If it wasn’t, you have the right to withdrawal within 14 days of purchase. Beyond this date, however, you are only entitled to the normal manufacturer’s warranty.
Charge the battery
Unlike lithium batteries, current batteries do not require superstitious rituals for the first start. However, they must still be loaded, since smartphones are often sold with 50% or 80% charge and the next steps are quite energy-intensive. It is, therefore, better to connect the smartphone to an electrical outlet, even if only as a precaution.
Log in with Google
With the battery charged, you can turn on the phone and log in with your Google account. This step is always part of the wizard, but if you skipped it by mistake, you can recover it later. Just open the settings menu and click on “Google” or “Account”. A login screen will appear e device synchronization will start. This operation may take more or less time depending on the amount of data to download, but once done you will have your “virtual environment” again.
Delete unnecessary apps
Before even installing your applications (you find them ready to download in the Google Play Store), it’s worth it to delete unnecessary applications that almost all manufacturers insert. Protect your new smartphone
The last thing we want is for our new purchase to be stolen, even more so if the attacker is free to access our files. It is very important therefore set a method for unlocking the device among those available. Usually, you can choose between PIN, password, sign, fingerprint, face lock.
