Install OpenWizard Addon On Kodi [Kodi Maintenance Addon]

This guide will show you how to install the OpenWizard add-on on Kodi so that it can work with the maintenance tool we use to fix and improve Kodi’s cache.

The OpenWizard addon is a Kodi tool that helps you keep your Kodi installation up to date and manage it. With this add-on, it’s easy to clear the cache in Kodi, delete temporary files, and get rid of cached images like posters and thumbnails. The add-on also has a very useful feature that lets you make the AdvancedSettings.xml file on its own.

Even though the OpenWizard addon doesn’t have any entertainment content, it is still a very interesting tool that you can add to your Kodi media center.

With this addon, you can keep your Kodi in good shape and avoid some performance problems like Kodi buffering problems and “No stream available” errors on some add-ons. You can also back up your Kodi data before resetting it to factory settings if you need to.

Clear Kodi cache and temporary files

The OpenWizard Kodi Addon is a plug-in that helps you keep your Kodi installation in good shape. You can mostly clear your cache and other temporary data with the add-on.

Keep in mind that when you stream video, the data is loaded into something called a “cache,” which is kind of like a buffer. If you lose your internet connection while streaming, the stream will keep going for a few seconds while Kodi gets the data from the cache.

  • What many people don’t know is that Kodi lets you change and grow the cache. Any wrong configuration, though, can be bad because:
  • A cache that is too big slows down your media player’s hardware, and a cache that is too small makes the stream jump and stop while it reloads.

Under the “OpenWizard Maintenance” menu item, you can find ways to delete the Kodi cache and other temporary files.

  • Then open the “OpenWizard Cleaning Tools“.

You can choose which temporary files to delete from this submenu. Here are the most important points:

Total Clean Up: All files listed below will be deleted
Clear Cache: The cache of Kodi is emptied
Clear Resolver Function caches: The various URLResolver caches are emptied (not usually necessary!)
Clear Packages: Cached installation files from Kodi addons will be deleted
Clear Thumbnails: The images stored in the corresponding Kodi database for video content (posters, fanarts, etc.) are deleted.
Clear Crash Logs: The Kodi log files are removed

After each entry, it says in bold how much memory will be freed up if you delete the files that go with that entry.

Adjust cache size automatically

When you stream a video over the Internet, the data is first put into a “buffer” and then played. You can change how the buffer or cache works.

You can tell the computer, for example, how big the buffer should be or how it should be read out. A file called “AdvancedSettings.xml” stores these settings.

With the OpenWizard Kodi Addon, you can use just a few clicks to have this file made automatically.

  • Open the “OpenWizard Maintenance” button in the “OpenWizard” Kodi add-on.
  • Then click “Open Wizard System Tweaks/Fixes.”
  • Select “Advanced Settings.”
  • Click “Cache & Network Presets” after that.

How you set up Kodi’s cache will depend on how much memory your player has.

  • Click on “Low-RAM Device Preset” if you are using hardware with less than 2 GB of RAM.
  • Click on “High-End Device Preset” if your device has more than 2 GB of RAM.
  • Then click Install
In Kodi, go to Settings > System Information > Hardware > Total Memory to see how much memory your system has. You can find the value in megabytes there (MB).
  • For the changes to the cache to take effect, you need to restart Kodi.
  • Click on “Default Network & Cache Settings” to reset the cache settings in Kodi.
