OnePlus is one of the many manufacturers that mount displays with a refresh rate of 120 HZ. However, this speed is not always the same when using the mobile. In this article, we will show you an application that improves the screen of your OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8 Pro.

XDA Developers developer arter97 created a tool called AutoHz that allows you to set refresh rates for each application separately. Without a doubt, it is a good app if you own an OnePlus 8.

OnePlus has a standard configuration with a 60 Hz mode that works at that speed, like most other smartphones. On the other hand, it has the option of 90 Hz / 120 Hz that automatically change the refresh rate to 60Hz when using apps that don’t require that high rate.

There is also a way to activate the latter mode through ADB by always using 90 or 120 Hz. However, this increases the power consumption on your mobile. But when you use the AutoHz app, you can control how and when your OnePlus device will change from 60 Hz or 90/120 Hz to get more out of your battery and your screen.

Of course, the app is specifically designed for OnePlus devices with high refresh rate screens such as the OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 7T Pro, OnePlus 8, and OnePlus 8 Pro, with the feature that it only works on OxygenOS. Also, you will have to use some ADB commands to make it work properly.

Inside the tool, you will see a list of installed applications and a lever next to each of them. The 60 Hz setting sets the screen to that refresh rate within the app, the 90/120 Hz toggle sets a refresh rate to 90/120 Hz, and the automatic setting maintains the default system behavior for that particular app.

Eye, keep in mind that for the OnePlus 8 Pro there is no intermediate 90Hz setting, but you can choose 60Hz or 120Hz. The tool already contains some recommended settings for common applications, although it also allows you to customize each app to your liking.

Of course, AutoHz is not free and not all users will be willing to pay it. However, at XDA Developers they are giving away 20 promo codes to their readers. If you want one of the codes, participate by leaving a comment on this XDA release.
