The position data inserted in the photos taken with your smartphone can be useful to collect and quickly find certain images related to a specific place. Such sensitive information, however, may fall into unauthorized hands which are now not adequately protected.

Fortunately, you can disable the geotag of photos from the camera settings, in this guide we will tell you how to do it on Google Pixel and Samsung smartphones.

Here are the steps to follow, to prevent the application of geotag to photos taken with Google Pixel and Samsung smartphone cameras:

  • Open the Camera app on your phone.
  • Then go to the camera settings;
  • On Samsung-branded smartphones, the relative icon is located in the upper left corner of the interface. On Google Pixel devices, you must instead touch the icon with the arrow pointing downwards, located at the top of the screen, then touching the gear icon, to open the settings page in the menu displayed;

  • Now turn off the location toggle in the camera settings menu. On Samsung smartphones, this is positioned at the bottom, while on Google Camera it is placed in the first position among the settings.

By deactivating the position, you will ensure that the geotag data will no longer be included in future photos taken.

Instead, you will have to manually remove the tag, in those photos taken that already contain the location information.
