” Dark mode ” was introduced with Android 10 and Google is implementing this new feature in applications that do not take on the system’s dark theme.
Recently, Google started testing the new Dark Theme for the Google application, but it was only available to Beta Testers. However, this application will work natively when a public version is released.
How To Activate Dark Mode in the Google Application
Follow the instructions below to try the new dark mode of the Google application.
- Become a Google App beta. Sign up here, (requires a google account).
- Install/update the Google beta application.
- Open the Google application, go to More> Settings> General > Theme> select Dark.
To exit the beta test:
- get to the test program deactivation page.
- If necessary, sign in to your Google Account.
- select Exit the program.
- When a new version of the Google app is available, update the app.
