Guide: How to Hard Reset on Realme smartphones

Hard Reset on Realme smartphones

If you have a Realme smartphone it may have happened to you in the past that you have to proceed with a hard reset of the phone, that is with the factory data reset that proceeds to delete all the phone data to restore the software to the state of the first power on.

With a hard reset, you can completely reset a Realme smartphone and restore the operating system to its original state, like the one that was installed the first time you turned it on.

Thanks to the procedure that I explain to you in this guide, and in the video you find below, you can easily delete all the data, documents, photos and videos, and applications contained in the phone. This procedure can therefore be useful if your Realme has become slow if you have software problems or simply want to delete everything before selling it or giving it to a friend or relative. This guide can also be useful if you have forgotten the PIN for unlocking, but you will still need to log in with the same initial Gmail account to be able to use your smartphone again.

Let’s start immediately with the step-by-step guide in which I’ll explain how to perform a hard reset on the Realme smartphone, with a couple of different procedures, through some really simple and fast steps.

Before proceeding: preliminary operations

If you want to give or sell your smartphone, there are some preliminary operations that you must perform that will allow you to proceed safely and not to lose your data.

The first thing I recommend you to do is log out of your Gmail, social, and messaging accounts, this operation allows you to delete all traces of your accounts from the phone and will allow the future owner to use his without problems. I especially recommend that you remove your Gmail account to avoid possible future blocks.

To proceed with the disconnection of your profiles, open the Settings, scroll to the Account item, in this screen you will find all the apps and accounts that are keeping track of your profiles. To proceed with the logout simply click on the application you are interested in, stop on the 3 dots at the top right and click on Remove account and confirm. Follow these steps for all of your accounts.

Then remember to back up photos and data contained in the Realme smartphone. You can make backup copies of all your documents and photos by connecting your phone to a PC or using the most popular cloud services. In this regard, I invite you to read the guide on how to backup a smartphone.

Software recovery

The simplest and most immediate solution is to proceed with the factory data reset via software, of course, you can only use this procedure if you can access your smartphone, remember the unlock code and everything works correctly.

To erase all your data open the Settings, scroll down to the System Settings item, at the bottom of this screen you will find Backup and Restore. From this page, we must select the item Reset the phone and then proceed with the confirmation.

Once the procedure has begun, which may take a few minutes, the phone will be formatted and restored to its initial state.

Hard reset via Recovery Mode

If, on the other hand, you have problems with the touch screen that does not work properly or you have forgotten the unlock code, you can proceed with the reset using the recovery mode (I have explained well here how to use the recovery mode on Realme smartphones ). To proceed with the hard reset via recovery proceed with these steps:

  1. With the phone off, press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons for a few seconds.
  2. In this screen select the English item and proceed. You can navigate using the touch screen or
  3. navigating up and down with the volume keys and confirming with the Power key.
  4. Select the Wipe Data item and proceed with entering the verification code that will be shown on the screen.
  5. Now click on Format Data and then on Format.
  6. Wait a few moments, it may take a few minutes, and we wait for the smartphone to restart.

Conclusions

If you have followed one of the two procedures correctly, now you will find yourself with your smartphone completely reset and ready to be configured as a new device.
