GPS Navigator On The Smartband

Following the Mi Band 3 and Amazfit Bip, an application of our knowledge has extended its compatibility to the latest Mi Band 5 as well. The queen of smart bands that could soon arrive in the Global version with NFC chip for contactless payments has now the possibility to act as a GPS navigator.

If you remember well, at the beginning of last year an Italian developer (and we are proud of this) named Francesco Recreated an app that allowed the previous generation smart band to work as a navigator. This service is now also available for Xiaomi’s new wearable.

A navigator at your wrist: Xiaomi Mi Band 5 turns into GPS with this all-Italian application

The app in question looks like a sort of evolution of the old “Mi Band Maps” and takes the name of “Navigator for Mi Band 5/4/3, Bip and Cor”. Basically, compared to the old version, support is added to the Mi Band 5 which, with its 1.1 ″ display, lends itself better to the function than previous products.

As mentioned in the subtitle, this is an all-Italian application and therefore it is worth spending € 0.99 for a one-time purchase. Below is the video presentation.

What does this application do? It allows you to receive directions from Google Maps directly on your wearable device. Through its user interface, you can easily customize incoming notifications. As the developer communicates, only walking and car navigation are supported while public transport is not yet supported.

This means that this functionality can be implemented in the future.

To work this app needs the Mi Fit or Notify & Fitness for Mi Band application. For all other applications, as stated in the description, the operation is not guaranteed. Although the video above is in English, the app obviously supports the Italian language. The only permission the app asks is for notifications. We thank the colleagues of Gizchina.it for reporting.
