Google has officially announced the discontinuation of first-generation smartphones, the Pixel and Pixel XL, which will no longer receive updates from this month. The manufacturer promised to support their smartphones three years after the release. Google Pixel and Pixel XL were introduced in October 2016, so the November security patches of the device will no longer be received.
Despite this, Google has confirmed that the first generation of the Pixel and Pixel XL will receive a “one-time final software update”, which will be distributed in December this year. This update will include many bug fixes, improvements, important additions, as well as November and December security patches.
Note that Google guarantees at least two major updates to the Android operating system and two years of support to the owners of its devices, during which security patches and various fixes will be issued. However, recently Google Pixel smartphones have received an update to the Android 10 operating system.
