How to fix app search issues on ColorOS 13

The global search is a rather helpful novelty that ColorOS 13 has added. With the new version based on Android 13, it is also possible to search in the Play Store using the search bar to look for applications. However, the new search bar has caused us and other OPPO users who have installed the update some issues, specifically the following.

  • Delay in the appearance of applications installed on the device during searches.
  • Inability to uninstall applications directly from the search bar.
  • The automatic deletion of the searched text does not work.

Here, we outline the solutions to these issues. There are two solutions; you just need to decide which one to use. You can disable ColorOS 13’s global search and switch back to the traditional bar that was present in ColorOS 12, which only searches within the installed apps on the device, by doing the following. Turn off the switch next to the Smart search item in the app menu by going to Settings, selecting Home screen, and Lock screen.

Go to Settings, tap on Apps, then select Manage apps if, on the other hand, all you want to do is stop the delay in the appearance of the applications you’re looking for. Write “Global Search” in the bar and tap the resulting link to open it.

To reactivate, tap Deactivate now, followed by Disable app and Activate. Deactivating and activating it again will essentially restart the function, which should eliminate the delay issue. If that doesn’t work, you can completely disable it by pressing the Disable button once more or—a better choice—by going through the steps in the previous sentence in the settings on the home screen.
