can't screenshot your WhatsApp profile picture

The days when you could easily save a WhatsApp profile picture by using the built-in image-saving functionality or by taking a screenshot are long gone. The company does not have a very good track record when it comes to privacy issues, but it has recently added several privacy features to its WhatsApp instant messaging application.

It has been over a half a decade since WhatsApp removed the ability to save profile pictures. Taking another step in the right direction, the company is now testing another privacy feature which prevents users from taking screenshots of account photos.

A report by WABetaInfo indicates that the latest WhatsApp beta version (2.24.4.25) restricts the use of screenshots of profile pictures. However, we have tested that this feature also works with WhatsApp beta version 2.24.3.21. In the meantime, testing is available on Android; we should expect the same on iPhone soon.

Now when someone tries to take a screenshot of your profile picture on WhatsApp, they will see a toast notification on the screen with the message “Can’t take a screenshot due to app restrictions” or “This app doesn’t allow screenshots” on Samsung smartphones.

Additionally, if you encounter issues like Fix WhatsApp Web No Valid QR Code Detected or want to Hide IP Address in WhatsApp Calls, or even Unban A Banned WhatsApp Account On Xiaomi, there are various guides and tutorials available online to assist you in resolving these matters effectively.

Meta’s implementation of this privacy feature emphasizes its commitment to respecting user privacy and consent. While it is undoubtedly a great privacy tool, users can still take a photo with a secondary device.

I mentioned earlier that this feature is already available on WhatsApp Beta versions 2.24.3.21 or 2.24.4.22, which can easily be downloaded from the Google Play Store. You may need to wait a few weeks or months to receive access to this new privacy feature if you are using the stable version of the app.
