What exactly is VoiceView on Fire TVs?
This is a screen reader designed specifically for Amazon Fire TV devices. Its main function is to convert visual information into auditory content, making the experience of using these devices accessible for people with visual disabilities or reading difficulties (among other possibilities)
VoiceView’s operation is surprisingly intuitive. When activated, this screen reader takes control of your player and begins reading aloud the text that appears on the screen. This includes menu options, device settings, and any content you select. In essence, VoiceView becomes your virtual assistant providing you with crucial information.

Step 1: access settings
First, make sure your Fire TV is on and working. Then, follow these steps:
- Use your Fire TV remote to go to the home screen.
- Navigate to the “Settings” option and select it. This option is usually represented with a gear icon and is located in the main menu.
Step 2: Accessibility
Once you’ve accessed settings, it’s time to enable VoiceView. Within the settings menu, find and select the “Accessibility” option. This section is designed to personalize the user experience.
Step 3: Activate VoiceView
- When you are in the Accessibility section, you will find several options available. Locate “VoiceView” and select it.
- Next, select “VoiceView” again to activate this useful feature.
- After selecting VoiceView, you’ll hear a message that says “VoiceView ready.” This indicates that VoiceView has been successfully activated and is ready for use.
Disabling VoiceView
If you ever want to disable VoiceView, the process is just as simple:
- Navigate back to the “Accessibility” section in your Fire TV settings.
- Select “VoiceView.”
- Then, select “VoiceView” again to turn it off.
- You will hear a message that says “Exiting VoiceView,” indicating that the feature has been disabled.

The first time you turn on VoiceView, a tutorial will automatically open, giving you tips on how to use this feature and how to locate the buttons on your Fire TV remote.
On the first screen of the tutorial, you will be asked to confirm if you really want to activate VoiceView. To confirm, simply press the “Play/Pause” button on the remote control. You can choose to skip the tutorial by pressing the “Skip/Fast Forward” button.

- Precise Navigation with Directional Pad: Your Fire TV player’s remote control is also designed for precise and easy navigation. The ring-shaped navigation control, known as the directional pad, is a valuable tool for moving around the interface. To use it, press the Left, Right, Up and Down keys on the directional pad to scroll through the options on the screen.
